The New S-MAX has powerful diesel engine and turbo petrol engine with various outputs
The S-MAX gave a new meaning to MPV when it first came out as the first-generation had stunning and striking style. Multiple Engine Options
Ford has developed multiple engine options for its second-generation S-Max, the Ford has brought both petrol and diesel engines for its fans across the world. However, the company hopes that diesel engines will account for 97% of its sale whereas remaining 3% will have turbo petrol engines. According to the details, the turbo petrol has two power options. The two turbo petrol engines are 1.5-litre with 158bhp and 2.0-litre with 237bhp.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine also have two power options, 148bhp and 178bhp. The diesel engines has six-speed manual gear box with the additional PowerShift auto which enables all-wheel drive for S-MAX. The S-Max attains the speed of 0-62mph in 10.8 seconds and achieves top speed of 123mph which is quite impressive for a seven seater.
The S-Max can be classified as fuel efficient MPV as it achieves 56.5 miles in one gallon. Whereas the CO2 emissions stay at 129g/km.
Second-generation S-Max
Ford had sold over 400,000 units in Europe alone of its first-generation S-Max since its launch in 2006. Ford has used a similar engine platform which it used for Mondeo. It is available at the price of £27,695 in the UK, prices increases a little with the more engine power.
