The 2.0 L turbo diesel DOHC l4 engine is awarded as one of the Best Diesel Engines of 2014 from Chevrolet

Among other ten contestants there is Chevrolet Cruze TD; in the initial tests, the standard automatic showed 27 mpg on a city cycle while 46 mpg on motorway. This machine is built in Lords-town but the engine is design to meet European standards for a 2.0-Litre unit which generates 148 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
To gain ultimate mileage, this engine is especially designed using dual overhead camshafts, each of which consists of four valves per cylinder. There are belt driven cams used in order to keep the engine quiet. Belts are made from a high strength material; the tensioners are exclusively rated for 100,000 miles.
Pistons used in this engine are made of high strength aluminium with top rings reinforced. The injections are positioned in the middle of the cylinder to utilise the maximum part of piston bowls to achieve enhanced combustion in the engine chambers. This technique enabled Chevrolet to get high compression ratios of 16.5:1 that further enhances power and makes combustion more efficient.
In order to control emissions, engine is equipped with a variable swirl intake manifold. This design enhances the motion of air charged mixture in the engine cylinders and optimises the combustion process. All thanks to the common-rail fuel injection system and the Piezo fuel injectors. For greater power, an exclusive intercooler charges the air and an especially designed vacuum pump lowers engine friction. This engine comes with a B20 bio-diesel compatibility to reduce the emissions and get higher performance. It uses a 6-speed automatic transmission which shifts pretty smooth so; get ready for a smoother ride from your new Chevrolet.
