The second generation Ford C-Max has received improvements that will make it best for family buyers
What is it?
C-Max is the new compact MPV from Ford which isn’t big enough that it is hard to manoeuvre around city streets but isn’t that small that it won’t accommodate family and their luggage. Powered by Ford diesel engine this vehicle can haul complete family yet return very good fuel economy. It provides convenience and modern safety in a price that would fit in every pocket.
The first C-Max was introduced in 2003 and since then it has sold more than 1.2 million units in Europe alone, securing a 12% market share in the segment. Ford is very hopeful that the new and heavily revised, second-generation model will grab more market shares from its rivals like the Peugeot 3008, Citroen C4 Picasso, Renault Scenic and the Volkswagen Golf SV.
What kind of power does it come with?
C-Max is by far the best car to drive family around city and do business, and in order for it to remain that way, it needs to be economical and comfortable at the same time. Thanks to the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine that returns 65mpg of fuel economy and 105g/km of CO2.
The power has gone up by 5% while the emissions have dropped by 6%, much better than the old 1.6-litre engine it is replacing. There is also a powerful version available and that is the 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 150PS and returns around 60mpg.
If you are a fan of petrol engines, then this compact MPV comes with multi-award winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, offering two power outputs, 100 and 125PS and returns 117g/km of CO2.
What’s it looks like from the inside?
The evolutionary design of C-Max is because of its dynamic styling that includes stronger, sleeker front end, and Ford’s distinctive inverted trapezoidal grille. Unlike the previous models, the dashboard of new C-Max is less fussy and shows more refinements. The new black satin trim and chrome detailing, and fewer switches and controls add a cleaner look.
All the functions have been made a lot easier than before, for example, the air-conditioning controls now feature buttons that are distinguished from each other and easier to recognize. To create a flat floor, the seats still tumble down individually.
What’s the price of one of these?
Well, the price starts at just over £18,000 and goes over £26,000 so it’s completely up to you and your needs.
