Superb Innovation of Corning Gorilla Glass to enhance the Ford GT engine performance
There is something new for the new Ford GT. Lighter in weight, smarter, more functional and more practical than before. Corning Gorilla Glass hybrid windscreen which is 30% lighter, more durable and scratch-resistant than the traditional glass. It enhances the Ford engines to work more efficiently giving less body weight.
Ford combined with the Corning technology, the corning gorilla glass will be placed at windscreen as well as rear Ford GT engine cover. It enables the GT performance to improve Ford handling, enhance fuel efficiency and minimise the risk of glass breakage.
What Hau Thai-Tang said?
Ford global purchasing group vice president praises the innovation of introducing corning technology. He said, “Gorilla Glass hybrid is a great example of how Ford works with suppliers to innovate in every area of our business.” He also said “Ford GT is setting new standards for innovation through performance and light-weighting, and we’re excited about exploring other applications for this great new technology”
Ford worked on the practicality of the corning innovation in their vehicle. During their inspection and study, the research experts came to know that there were real-world applications for the new hybrid glass. The research is comprised on small but dedicated pool of purchasing and engineering experts from Ford and Corning fast-tracked the technology and they aimed to launch this innovation within four months.
What makes Corning Glass Impressive?
The new Gorilla Glass hybrid window is smart and versatile. It is almost 25% to 50% thinner than the traditional glass, and is equal or more powerful in strength than the traditional glass. When we read the dimensions of the traditional Corning glass, it is four to six millimetres thick whereas the Corning glass is only three to four millimetres thick. Remarkable reduction in the thickness which makes the Corning glass less weight and more flexible.
Benefits of Corning Glass
The new technology was experienced in tough environments. It is tested over stones and in rough road conditions as well as tested the tolerance level on specific projectile, rollover and wind tunnel testing. The outcomes of the tested glass are exceptional. It reduces the weight of windscreen and Ford GT engine cover and the bulkhead of the Ford GT improves fuel economy, acceleration and braking performance. The best outcome tested is on the handling. It removes the weight of corning glass on the centre of gravity and improves the car’s outstanding agility.
The corning Glass is the best technology in the vehicle. Let’s see who follows it next to the Ford FT.
